Enjoy the fall weather with a free performance on the lawn, featuring a string quartet with members of the Capital String Ensemble.

Wake Forest ARTS will host the event Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum, 450 N. Main St., in the heart of the historic district.?In keeping with the mission of Wake Forest ARTS to support and enhance cultural arts opportunities for the community, the event is entirely free of charge and is open to everyone.

The quartet will be comprised of Margaret Garris on violin, Meredith Cooper on violin, Phyllis Garriss on viola and Nick Covey on cello. In addition to participating in the Capital String Ensemble, all are members of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra. Featured selections for the afternoon?s performance include Mozart?s ?Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,? a movement from Bach?s ?Double Violin Concerto,? Handel?s ?Suite of Airs and Dances? and some light show tunes.

Prior to the concert, take a tour of the Wake Forest Historical Museum, which is open 2-5 p.m. or stroll around the grounds and see the gardens.?Lawn chairs and picnic baskets are welcome for the performance, but please leave pets at home.

Wake Forest ARTS is best known for organizing the concert series Six Sundays in Spring, but has since broadened programing to include partnering with the variety art show Neck of the Woods and the Art After Hours monthly art gallery exhibits as well as promoting area artists through the annual 100 under $100 art show. Wake Forest ARTS also continues to have an integral role in planning and fundraising for a cover for the amphitheater at E. Carroll Joyner Park.
